Family Law

Separation, parenting and property settlements — explained plainly, so you always know your next step.

How we help

Family law is our primary focus. Led by Principal Solicitor Peita Savage, we guide individuals and families through separation, parenting arrangements and property settlements with clear advice and steady support.

We know these are some of the hardest decisions you will make. Our job is to take the mystery out of the process — your options, the likely costs and the realistic outcomes — so you can make decisions with confidence.

  • Divorce & separation
  • Parenting arrangements & child support
  • Property & financial settlements
  • Binding financial agreements
  • Consent orders
  • De facto relationship matters

Common questions

In most family law matters, no. The majority of parenting and property disputes are resolved through negotiation or mediation. We only go to court when it is genuinely in your interest, and we will tell you plainly if and when that point is reached.

There is no fixed formula. The court considers what each person brought in, contributions during the relationship (including as a homemaker and parent) and future needs. We give you a realistic range early so you can plan.

You can apply for divorce once you have been separated for 12 months. The divorce order itself is usually straightforward; parenting and property matters are handled separately and on their own timeline.
